Arlon, the film we reach for first on most jobs, carries a 7-year rating on its economy tier and 12 years on its premium tier. Those ratings assume average conditions, and Tucson's UV and summer heat are well above average.
What wears out first
- Flat, sun-facing panels. The hood, roof and trunk lid take direct overhead sun and usually fade first.
- Edges. Pressure washers aimed at seams and edges can lift the film over time.
- Vertical sides hold up the longest because they get less direct sun.
How to make your wrap last longer
- Hand wash only. Automated car washes scratch the film and can catch the edges. At WrappStarr, running a wrapped vehicle through an automated car wash voids our installation warranty.
- Park in shade or a garage whenever you can. Less direct sun is the biggest single factor in how long a wrap lasts here.
- Keep a ceramic spray on it. A ceramic layer helps the film shed dirt and resist UV. More frequent applications extend wrap life.
- Clean off bird droppings and bugs quickly. In the heat, they can etch the surface within days.
Our warranty and maintenance program
Every WrappStarr install comes with a 3-year installation warranty covering lifting, peeling, bubbling and seam separation. Sun fading is covered by the film manufacturer's warranty, not the installer's, because it depends on how the vehicle is parked and stored.
